Glen Elgin 2012 - 12 yo

From close to the capital of Speyside, this 12-year-old Glen Elgin, has been patiently waiting to be devoured. We think she'll tend to please everyone. Muscovado brown sugar meets vibrant blood orange, with a subtle hint of oak from the refill hogshead. A delicate mix of dried fruits. The influence of a good P.X. quarter cask. Forrest fruits. Redberries. Even a surprising touch of cooked vegetables. And a hint of 5 spices. More molasses. Lingering sweetness fades into a gentle warmth. Valencia orange. On the background a slight savory note. This girl has something everyone will like – a perfect giveaway – or something to enjoy all by yourself when nobody is watching. Easy going

The Bastard No. 2 - 14 yo

Prepare your taste buds for a wild ride on the rollercoaster of flavor! This whiskey is as cheeky as its name suggests, with rebellious flavors of lotus root, Korean red pepper, and chunky caramel. Madeira casks are not among the most common of casks: expect interesting stuff! Aromas of grassy fields and cooked vegetables mingle with the bold presence of Madeira wine. Notes of Maggi plant and hazelnut. Caramel. Tangerine. Kumquats? Kumquats! Stewed fruits and toffee. Lingering aftertaste – it just keeps going. Girvan 1997 - 26 yo

After 26 years of aging, this exceptional Girvan from 1997 is ready to be savored! And savored she shall be. Initially aged in a refill hogshead before being transferred into an Amontillado hoggie for 21 months. It boasts a brilliant nose with hints of honey, mandarin, and a subtle whiff of (the typical grain) glue. Caramel. The palate offers a punchy combination of cumin and blood oranges, with light spices adding depth. Menthol. Maybe some Jaffa cakes in the mix again? Fresh dough. The finish is long and satisfying, with notes of Szechuan pepper and a lingering sweetness. In a whiskey world where such expressions are increasingly rare, this Girvan stands out as a true gem. Another brilliantly aged grain that deserves to be in the spotlight.

Mannochmore 2012 - 12 yo

Old sherry casks are hard to come by (and rarely used nowadays anyway – due cost). This is especially true when dealing with an eighties (1981) P.X. barrique. Such a cask will surely have a big & bold influence on this whiskey within! This Mannochmore spent over two years in this unique vessel, and it shows. Old-school sherry profile, wowzie! It really got the royal treatment. Old oak, shoe polish, lots of cherries and whipped cream. This princess has a soft, gentle profile, and carries notes of vanilla, brown sugar, and prunes, creating a sugar-ish, treacly sweetness. Red fruits. Crowned with a hint of orange adds complexity to its eloquent finale. This whiskey is truly a masterpiece of balance and of sophistication. Worthy to be a Queen and to outshine even the best of whiskies. Indulge slowly, this is something you don't come across often.
