Kabooooomm!!!! What an insanely layered whiskey, a textbook example of what a top cask (4o year old PX barrique) can deliver. The nose is typical Caol Ila: an explosion of fruit in a smoky jacket. Soft citrus, tangerine, and ash, followed by a subtle sweetness of currants, cranberries, and a deeply layered wood tone. Despite its youth, surprisingly soft, with sweet hints of raspberries, yellow raisins, and apricot. Ash, charred wood, and a fine peat intertwine with smoked meat. The alcohol is beautifully integrated. An endless, citrus-fresh finish in a veil of smoke-pure class!
