What a powerhouse! The nose is complex and intriguing with light smoke, curcuma, marzipan, dark bread, salmiac, Arabic spices, smoked meat, honey and a hint of bitterness. With water, more tropical fruit and fresh herbs. On the palate, a rich palette of liquorice, Arabic spices, red fruits and salty-smoked bacon follows. The finish is remarkably long and intense for its age, with notes of liquorice, wood, vanilla, earthy notes and smoke. Everything is perfectly balanced, with brilliant alcohol integration. A rare dram, all the more precious now that Glenturret announced discontinuing peated production. What a shame - this is pure enjoyment.
